Plaskett, John Stanley


PLASKETT, John Stanley, astronomer (b 17 Nov 1865, Hickson, ON; d 17 Oct 1941, Esquimalt). Educated at the Univ of Toronto, he was one of the original staff when the Dominion Observatory was formed in Ottawa in 1903. He became an expert in spectroscopy and pioneered research on the rotation of the Milky Way Galaxy.
