Quathiaski Cove


QUATHIASKI COVE, pop 409, is a small coastal community on the southwest corner of QUADRA ISLAND overlooking DISCOVERY PASSAGE. A fish cannery operated in the cove from 1904 to 1941, forming the nucleus of a thriving settlement, which for a time was the economic hub of the entire region. By the mid-1920s it was eclipsed by CAMPBELL RIVER, but it continues to be one of the two commercial centres on Quadra (HERIOT BAY is the other).
