RAINCOAST CHRONICLES is a journal of BC coast history and folklore started in 1972 by Howard WHITE for the stated aim of "placing BC character on the record." Parallelling such American back-to-the-land publications as Foxfire and Sand County Almanac, it told the stories of BC coast pioneers. It touched a nerve with Canadians at a time when interest in the country's rural roots was peaking, and it became a cultural landmark on the West Coast, establishing "raincoast" in the lexicon of BC...
