RANDALL, Samuel W. "Sam," racetrack owner (b 25 Sept 1882, Toronto; d 2 Nov 1961, Vancouver). In 1908 he moved to VANCOUVER and sold home appliances until after WWI, when he became involved in HORSE RACING and took control of the HASTINGS PARK track. For 35 years he was president of the Ascot Jockey Club, which leased Hastings Park. He also built and owned Lansdowne Park on LULU ISLAND (1924–45) and ran the Willows track in VICTORIA to 1947.
