RHODODENDRON, wild, is a shrub of the heather family (Ericaceae) characterized by large, leathery, generally evergreen leaves and clusters of showy flowers. Three species are native to BC. Pacific rhododendron (Rhododendron macrophyllum) grows to 8 m in height and has thick evergreen leaves up to 20 cm long; its pink to rose-purple flowers are 5 cm long and grow in terminal clusters.
