Sandwick

SANDWICK, 3 km northeast of COURTENAY on VANCOUVER ISLAND, on the north side of the Tsolum R, was an AGRICULTURAL community first settled in the 1880s. It was named by Eric Duncan, an early farmer and storekeeper, after his home parish in the Shetland Islands. A post office operated here from 1889 to 1948.
