SOCCER was introduced to BC by British settlers on VANCOUVER ISLAND and the ROYAL ENGINEERS headquartered in NEW WESTMINSTER. The first documented games took place in 1862 at the Queen's Birthday celebrations in New Westminster and in 1865 at the annual picnic of the Caledonian Benevolent Society in VICTORIA.
