SOOKE LAKE, 16 km north of SOOKE on VANCOUVER ISLAND, is an important source of water for VICTORIA and was linked to the city by a pipeline built between 1913 and 1915. It was the site of a LOGGING camp in the 1920s and 1930s after the CNR line was built along its eastern shore.
