Tappen

TAPPEN, pop 788, 10 km north of SALMON ARM near SHUSWAP LK, is a farming and recreational community at the east end of the Tappen Valley. The name is a mispelling of Tappan, the name of a CPR sub-contractor who worked on the line here in 1884; "helper" locomotives were based at this point for many years. The settlement was originally known as Brightwater.
