THORMANBY ISLANDS lie at the south end of Malaspina Strait between TEXADA ISLAND and the mainland, just north of SECHELT on the SUNSHINE COAST. The larger southern island was owned by Calvert Simson, who operated a farm on it for half a century (see also AGRICULTURE).
