Trutch

TRUTCH, a small roadside settlement with TOURISM services 210 km northwest of FORT ST JOHN on the ALASKA HWY, was bypassed in 1987 with a new 43-km section of road. The road circumvented a steep winding climb over Trutch Mt, named after Joseph TRUTCH, BC's first LT GOV (1871–76). The US Army had a construction camp here during WWII.
