Valgardson, William Dempsey

VALGARDSON, William Dempsey, writer, teacher (b 7 May 1939, Winnipeg). Raised in the Icelandic community of Gimli, MB, he attended the Univ of Manitoba and taught in high schools in the province during the 1960s. After receiving an MFA from the Univ of Iowa, he worked at a college in Missouri for 4 years. He then moved to BC, where he taught creative writing at the UNIV OF VICTORIA from 1974.
