VANCOUVER ISLAND HELICOPTERS LTD, the second-oldest operating helicopter company in BC, was founded in 1955 by Ted Henson, a VICTORIA mechanic and pilot. Following in the footsteps of Okanagan Helicopters (see CANADIAN HELICOPTERS LTD), the company performed aerial surveying, MINING exploration, firefighting and power line construction.
