Vavenby

VAVENBY, pop 252 (2016), is on the N THOMPSON R, 150 km north of KAMLOOPS. It was founded about 1910; the name is a misapplication of Navenby, the English birthplace of an early settler named Daubney Pridgeon. The local economy has relied on 2 SAWMILLS, along with one of the largest sheep ranches in BC.
