WAH, Fred, writer, teacher (b 23 Jan 1939, Swift Current, SK). He grew up in the W KOOTENAY and while studying at UBC in the early 1960s was part of a group of writers who formed the influential TISH movement. After further studies in the US he returned to the Kootenay and taught at Selkirk College, then helped to create a writing program at David Thompson University Centre (see NOTRE DAME UNIV OF NELSON).
