WILLIAMS, David James "Tiger," hockey player (b 3 Feb 1954, Weyburn, SK). The NHL leader in career penalty minutes, he earned his nickname in minor HOCKEY when he knocked over a referee—his own brother—for calling a penalty on him. After 3 years in the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos he graduated to the NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs and then joined the VANCOUVER CANUCKS, playing a key role in the team's run to the 1982 Stanley Cup finals.
