ANDREWS, George Lloyd "Porky," basketball player (b 18 Sept 1917, Victoria; d 26 May 1999). One of BC's finest BASKETBALL players, he first attracted national attention playing alongside Doug PEDEN and Art and Chuck CHAPMAN on the VICTORIA Blue Ribbons, the 1935 Canadian amateur champions. After being recruited by the Univ of Oregon to play football, basketball and baseball he was part of the university's 1939 NCAA championship basketball team.
