BASS occurs in BC in 2 species of freshwater fish: smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieu) and largemouth bass (M. salmoides). Both species are introduced. The smallmouth was introduced in 1901 as a game fish to both mainland and VANCOUVER ISLAND waters and is now found on Vancouver Island and SALTSPRING ISLAND and in the OKANAGAN VALLEY.
