Flores Island


FLORES ISLAND, 155 sq km, in CLAYOQUOT SOUND 20 km north of TOFINO on the west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND, was named by Spanish explorers in 1791 after Don Manuel Antonio Flores, a viceroy of Mexico. The NUU-CHAH-NULTH community of AHOUSAT is on the southwest coast, near a popular sulphur spring that is part of Gibson MARINE PARK (1.42 sq km).
