Georgetti, Kenneth "Ken"

GEORGETTI, Kenneth "Ken," labour leader (b 12 May 1952, Trail). He began working at the COMINCO smelter in TRAIL in 1971, a year after graduating from high school. Trained as a pipefitter, he rose quickly through the ranks of his union, the United Steelworkers of America Local 480, to become president of the local in 1981. At the end of 1986 he was elected leader of the BC FEDERATION OF LABOUR. During 12 years as head of the federation he played an important role in rallying the LABOUR MOVEMENT...
