HALL, an early W KOOTENAY MINING camp on the Salmo R and NELSON & FORT SHEPPARD RWY 13 km south of NELSON, was named for Oscar and William Hall, who discovered rich SILVER and COPPER deposits on nearby Toad Mt in 1886. They developed the Silver King mine, which was connected by a 14-km tramway to the Hall SMELTER in Nelson, at one time the largest copper blast furnace in the world.
