Hixon

HIXON, pop 264, is a ranching (see CATTLE INDUSTRY), horse-raising and LOGGING community on the BC RAIL line 55 km south of PRINCE GEORGE and east of the FRASER R. There are several stores and motels here, plus a pub and gas station; many residents work at the SAWMILL in nearby STRATHNAVER. Hixon was named after Joseph Foster Hixon, a prospector who searched for GOLD in the area in 1866.
