JOWETT, Alice Elizabeth, hotel keeper, prospector (b 5 Nov 1853, Bradford, England; d 1955, Kelowna). She arrived in VANCOUVER in 1889, a 26-year-old widow with 3 young children. After running a bakery in the city for 7 years she moved to Trout Lake City in the LARDEAU area east of ARROW LK, where a SILVER-mining boom was in progress.
