Meares Island


MEARES ISLAND, 84.77 sq km, lies at the south end of CLAYOQUOT SOUND off TOFINO on the west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND. It is part of the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht FIRST NATION of the NUU-CHAH-NULTH and the site of their main village, Opitsat (pop 230).
