NAHMINT BAY is located on the west side of ALBERNI INLET 25 km south of PORT ALBERNI. It is named for a group of NUU-CHAH-NULTH (Nootka) who lived in the area. Frank Gerrard, a prospector, settled in the bay with his family in 1894, at which time the area's COPPER deposits were attracting interest.
