ALBERNI INLET is a narrow FJORD formerly known as the Alberni Canal, extending 40 km inland from BARKLEY SOUND on the west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND. It is the longest inlet on the Island. The SOMASS R drains into the head of the inlet where the city of PORT ALBERNI is located.
