Pachena Point


PACHENA POINT is located in the traditional territory of the Huu-ay-aht (Ohiaht) First Nation (see NUU-CHAH-NULTH) on the west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND, south of BAMFIELD and overlooking the entrance to JUAN DE FUCA STRAIT. This is the stretch of coastline known as the "Graveyard of the Pacific" because of the number of ships that have been wrecked there. A LIGHTHOUSE, was erected in 1907,is the only wooden light station left in the province. The northern end of the WEST COAST TRAIL is nearby....
