Pilot Bay


PILOT BAY is on the east side of KOOTENAY LK opposite the West Arm. A settlement grew up when the Davies/Sayward Lumber Co built a SAWMILL at the site in 1890. In 1895 an American syndicate led by Andrew Hendryx and his brother Wilbur (see HENDRYX BROS) put in a SMELTER to process low-grade galena from the Bluebell mine at RIONDEL as well as custom ore from other mines in the area.
