RIONDEL, pop 306, a retirement community on the northeast side of KOOTENAY LK, 88 km north of CRESTON, is the site of the famous Bluebell mine. The low-grade galena deposits of this and adjacent claims were worked from 1885 to 1896 by an American syndicate led by a wealthy brass manufacturer, Andrew Hendryx, and his brother Wilbur (see HENDRYX BROS).
