POLESTAR BOOK PUBLISHERS is a literary and trade BOOK PUBLISHER founded in VICTORIA by Julian Ross in 1981. The press was based in WINLAW, near NELSON, and later in VANCOUVER. The press was purchased by Michelle Benjamin in 1995, and in 1997 its main office returned to Victoria with a marketing branch in Vancouver. Polestar publishes children's fiction and an eclectic mix of fiction, non-fiction and poetry titles. Early in 2000 the press was bought by RAINCOAST BOOKS.
