Quamichan

QUAMICHAN, a farming district (see AGRICULTURE) on Quamichan Lk, 46 km northwest of VICTORIA on VANCOUVER ISLAND, is essentially a suburb of DUNCAN. There was a village of the COWICHAN Nation in this area and the name is an Island HALKOMELEM word meaning "humped back," after the shape of a nearby hill.
