ROCK BAY, on the east side of VANCOUVER ISLAND on JOHNSTONE STRAIT, about 40 km north of CAMPBELL RIVER, was the site of an important LOGGING camp that operated from about 1900 to the 1940s. The camp, consisting at one point of accommodations for hundreds of loggers, a store, hotel and saloon, originally belonged to BC MILLS TIMBER & TRADING CO, then after 1922 to Merrill Ring & Wilson.
