Ross Bay Cemetery

ROSS BAY CEMETERY on Fairfield Road in VICTORIA has been in use since 1873 and contains the graves of many prominent BC politicians, including Sir James DOUGLAS and former premiers Amor DE COSMOS, George WALKEM, Alexander DAVIE, John ROBSON and James DUNSMUIR. The prospector Billy BARKER, the artist Emily CARR and the pioneer jurist Matthew BEGBIE are also buried here. The cemetery is notable for its 19th-century design and landscaping and the quality of its monuments.
