SAKIC, Joseph Steve "Joe," hockey player (b 7 July 1969, Burnaby). He first turned heads in the BURNABY Minor HOCKEY Assoc, fuelling rumours that a West Coast Wayne Gretzky was in the making. As a junior he was a standout with the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL and he was selected as Canadian junior player of the year in 1988.
