SCHNARR, August, coastal pioneer (b 29 Aug 1886, Centralia, WA; d 1981, Heriot Bay). Raised on a Washington homestead, he came to BC in 1909 to work in a LOGGING camp on CRACROFT ISLAND. By 1911 he and brothers Gus and Johnny SCHNARR lived year-round on the coast, logging in summer and trapping furs in winter in BUTE INLET.
