SCHNARR, Johnny, logger, fisher, rum-runner (b 16 Nov 1894, near Centralia, Washington; d date unavailable). Raised in poverty on a Washington state homestead, he came to BC when he was 15 years old, with his brothers Gus and August SCHNARR, to work in a LOGGING camp on CRACROFT ISLAND. He remained on the coast trapping and logging until WWI, when he served overseas with the US army. Following the war and the introduction of prohibition in the US, he became a RUM-RUNNER, hauling liquor...
