Shushartie Bay


SHUSHARTIE BAY opens onto Goletas Channel at the north end of VANCOUVER ISLAND, 30 km west of PORT HARDY. It was a busy little port at the turn of the 20th century, offering a convenient stopover for coastal steamers and fishers. The Skinner family ran a hotel and store from 1906 to WWII and a SALMON cannery operated briefly during WWI. It was a regular port of call for UNION STEAMSHIP CO vessels into the 1940s.
