SYDNEY INLET, a steep-sided FJORD off CLAYOQUOT SOUND 50 km northwest of TOFINO on VANCOUVER ISLAND, is the site of Sydney Inlet Provincial PARK (27.74 sq km). A commercial FISHING settlement was located here from the 1920s to the 1940s but was later abandoned. The post office name was spelled "Sidney Inlet." The inlet's western arm, Stewardson Inlet, was the site of a large LOGGING camp that reached a peak of activity in the 1970s.
