VERNON, Forbes George, rancher, politician (b 1843, Ireland; d Jan 1911, London, England). Educated in England, he was an officer in the British army when he resigned his commission and embarked for Canada in 1863 with his brother Charles to take up land in BC. After SILVER mining for 2 seasons, the brothers settled near the north end of OKANAGAN LK at COLDSTREAM, where they developed a ranch. By 1883 Forbes was the sole owner of the property, which he sold to Gov Gen Lord Aberdeen in 1891....
