CUNNINGHAM, Robert, missionary, fur trader, salmon canner (b 1 Jan 1837, Tullyvally, Ireland; d 8 Apr 1905, Victoria). The son of a Protestant farmer, he studied at the Church Missionary Society (CMS) college in London and in 1862 came to BC to assist William DUNCAN's mission at METLAKATLA. After he married a FIRST NATIONS woman the CMS expelled him in July 1867.
