ESQUIMALT & NANAIMO RAILWAY () (E&N), linking the 2 VANCOUVER ISLAND communities, was completed on 13 Aug 1886 when Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald, on his only visit to BC, drove the last spike at Cliffside near SHAWNIGAN LAKE.
