Horne, Adam Grant


HORNE, Adam Grant, trader (b 1831, Edinburgh, Scotland; d 10 Aug 1901, Nanaimo). He came to BC in 1851 to take charge of the HBC store at NANAIMO. In May 1856 he and a party of aboriginal guides opened a TRAIL across VANCOUVER ISLAND from QUALICUM BEACH to the head of ALBERNI INLET, initiating trade with the NUU-CHAH-NULTH (Nootka) there.
