Iskut

ISKUT are a group of about 300 FIRST NATIONS (ATHABASCAN) people centred at Eddontenajon Lk, south of the STIKINE R in northwest BC. They are closely affiliated with their neighbours the TAHLTAN people. In the 19th century the Iskut lived at BEAR LK, where they traded at FORT CONNOLLY. When the fort closed they drifted west to the TELEGRAPH CREEK area; in the 1960s they moved again to their present location.
