PIERCE, William Henry, missionary (b 1856, Fort Rupert, Vancouver Island; d 1948, Prince Rupert). The son of a Scottish FUR TRADER and a TSIMSHIAN woman, he was raised at FORT SIMPSON and went to work as a cabin boy on an HBC steamer when he was just 12 years old.
