SMITH, Cecil "Cougar," bounty hunter, guide (b 1878, Ashbourne, England; d 1961, Campbell River). He was a son of Amelia and Horace Smith, English immigrants who came to VANCOUVER ISLAND in the 1880s to farm at BLACK CREEK; his brother Eustace SMITH was a famed timber cruiser.
