Squamish

SQUAMISH is a strong winter wind of up to 40 knots blowing out of HOWE SOUND. It takes its name from the community at the head of the inlet. Though the term is often applied to strong outflow winds in other coastal inlets farther north, these usually have their own local names, such as the JERVIS INLET Express. As the wind dissipates over GEORGIA STRAIT it sometimes carries snow showers to the east coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND.
