TURNER, David, soccer player (b 11 Oct 1903, Edinburgh, Scotland; d 6 Apr 1989, Vancouver). He immigrated with his family to Edmonton in 1914 and moved to VANCOUVER to play SOCCER in 1923. After he and a friend were rejected at a tryout for St Andrew's because they lost the team's new ball in FALSE CRK, he joined the CUMBERLAND United club on VANCOUVER ISLAND and helped it to win the provincial championship in 1925.
