BC Lake & River Service

BC LAKE & RIVER SERVICE was a fleet of inland sternwheelers, tugs and barges operated by the CPR from 1897, when it purchased and renamed the COLUMBIA & KOOTENAY STEAM NAVIGATION CO. The CPR expanded the fleet with vessels and barges working on KOOTENAY, Trout, SLOCAN, ARROW and OKANAGAN lakes, and BOATBUILDING and repair facilities at NELSON, ROSEBERY, NAKUSP and OKANAGAN LANDING until the operation was second to none in the freshwater steamboating annals of the Pacific Northwest.
