BROKEN GROUP ISLANDS is a group of more than 100 islands scattered across BARKLEY SOUND on the west coast of VANCOUVER ISLAND south of UCLUELET. The islands, part of PACIFIC RIM NATIONAL PARK, cover an area of 130 sq km and are a favourite spot with canoers and kayakers. They are in the territory of the Tseshaht, a NUU-CHAH-NULTH (Nootka) nation, who used them each summer to fish, collect shellfish and hunt SEAL and SEA LION.
