Lake Country

LAKE COUNTRY, district municipality, pop 9,606 (2006), is located between KELOWNA and VERNON on the east side of OKANAGAN LK. Spread over 167.09 sq km, it comprises the communities of WINFIELD, OYAMA, OKANAGAN CENTRE and SUNNYWOLD (Carr's Landing) and was incorporated on 2 May 1995. TOURISM and fruit growing and packing (see TREE FRUITS) underpin the local economy.
